I was thinking about why lipstick is called lipstick. Is it because it sticks to lips, or because it comes in stick form? I'm thinking it's probably the second, because otherwise we might be rubbing chapstick on our leather over-pants contraptions.

I think it's both? I can't verify it for sure though, nowhere online is there a etymology for lipstick.
I would have to say that if it is called lipstick because of its ability to adhere to one's lips than it is a horrible product because it comes off quite easily. I vote for option two. :)
